The guest bath on Birch Row in Marlow Falls had a tub nobody used, one ceiling light and a door that swung into the vanity. The owners have family staying most holidays, so they wanted a shower that was easy to step into and a room that felt bigger than it is.
The tub came out, and a walk-in shower with a low threshold went in its place, with a glass panel instead of a curtain and a bench at sitting height. We set the valve by the entry, so you can turn the water on without reaching through the spray.
Lighting did the most for the size of the room. A light over the mirror, a wet-rated light in the shower and a small night light on its own switch replaced the single fixture, and in the evening the room reads twice as wide.
The pocket door was the last piece. It meant opening the wall and moving one switch, but the door no longer fights the vanity, and the hallway got a few inches back. Clara's written price covered it from the start, so there was no change order to sign.
